Photographing a fashion shoot at Edith Wharton’s estate in the Berkshires was a surreal experience. As someone who loves both fashion and literature, being in such a historic location was a dream come true.
Edith Wharton was a renowned writer and designer who spent many years at her home, The Mount, located in the heart of the Berkshires. Her estate is a stunning example of Gilded Age architecture and design, and it was the perfect backdrop for our fashion shoot.
As I walked around the estate, I couldn’t help but be inspired by the creativity and determination of Wharton. She was a woman who dared to follow her dreams and pursue a career in a male-dominated industry. Her books, such as “The House of Mirth” and “The Age of Innocence,” were groundbreaking in their depiction of women’s lives and relationships.
One quote that embodies Wharton’s creativity and determination is: “There are two ways of spreading light: to be the candle or the mirror that reflects it.” This quote reminds me of the importance of not only pursuing our own passions but also inspiring and supporting others in their creative pursuits.
As I set up my camera and began to photograph our model, I felt a sense of excitement and energy that I’ve never experienced before. Being surrounded by the beauty and history of The Mount, and channeling the creativity of Edith Wharton, was truly a magical experience.
At the end of the day, I couldn’t help but feel grateful for the opportunity to be a part of such a unique and inspiring project. The estate of Edith Wharton serves as a reminder that creativity and determination can lead to amazing things, and that following our dreams is always worth the effort.
