Remember back in school when you couldn’t wait for the following day to see your crush? Truly nothing is more romantic than finding love in a decidedly unromantic place…say, like med school. Finding themselves “accidentally” in multiple group projects together, this top-notch chemistry sparked Shelby and Cory’s love story that shines brightly to this day. They interact in such a lovingly warm way and everyone in their orbit adores them so very much.

When this NYC couple was wedding planning, they knew they wanted to celebrate in Waterville Valley, their happy place. During the pandemic, they found sanctuary here amongst the mountains and setting sight on the Mad River still brings them a sense of peaceful calm. Inviting all their favorite people to celebrate with a destination wedding here was the easiest decision.

They enlisted NH wedding planner, By Emma B, to help them convert an unconventional venue, Waterville Valley Clubhouse, into a magical space for their intimate, yet exuberant wedding reception. When a storm rolled into town, Emma remained unruffled and navigated a ceremony pivot with an easy, skillful grace. Not only did she facilitate such a joyous weekend for S + C but she made it all the more enjoyable for the team. From the rodeo rehearsal to the last firework, everything was memorable and joyous.

After each wedding, I reflect on the ride home and glean nuggets of wisdom to bring back to my own life. After this windswept weekend, I was reminded of all the best things in life. How to stay present and savor the here and now—it’s everything. Create time to laugh with your partner and lean into adventures with a good-natured gusto. And always, always dance the night away, ideally with a fringe dress and fireworks.
